August Luncheon Meeting

Please mark your calendars to attend our August meeting. Helene Cross, President & CEO of Fairbanks Hospital, will speak on addictions in women.

Helene was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Indianapolis in 1974. Since that time she has worked in area health and human services organizations. In 2001 she became President & Chief Executive Officer, of Fairbanks, and in 2006 she assumed the additional position of President & Chief Ex- ecutive Officer of Hope Academy, the recov- ery high school at Fairbanks. Previously she held administrative positions at Easter Seals Crossroads, St. Vincent Hospital, Wishard Hospital, CICOA and The John Boner Cen- ter.

She holds an MS Management, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Indiana and BA Psychology, Purdue University. boards and committees; the current ones are: The Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC), National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP), the National Alliance for Alcohol Research and Education, the advisory board for Indianapo- lis Woman Magazine, State Division of Men- tal Health and Addiction Transformation Work Group, and the United Way Commu- nity Planning and Research Committee. She is a former member and president of the In- dianapolis Historic Preservation Commis- sion.

For relaxation she reads, cooks, travels and combines those areas of interest with a love for Italy. Helene and her husband, Bob, have been married for 31 years.

It's Back!

Hold the date because EWHC is bringing back the annual Fashion Show event!

Please plan on attending the 2009 EWHC Breakfast Fashion Show at Nordstrom’s, Keystone at the Crossing Tuesday, September 22nd from 7:30 am – 9:00 am.

You will see and hear about the latest trends for the professional wardrobe as well as enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast. The cost is $25 per person for members or $40 for a member & her guest (Limit one guest at the special rate). $30 per person for non-members

2009 Member Survey

Many thanks to EWHC members who completed the survey at the end of June. Here are some of the interesting statistics:

  • 79.5% of members rank networking opportunities as a key value of membership.
  • 59.5% said that they were influenced by a co-worker or colleague to become a member of EWHC.
  • Leadership information was ranked as the number one program topic, closely followed by legislative (federal & state) and general management topics.
  • 49% consider mid-day (lunch) the most convenient meeting time; 23% prefer morning (breakfast) meetings; 14% like evenings (cocktails); 14% have no preference.
  • 79% definitely plan to continue their membership in 2010.
